I'm currently stuck at the VAT stage with the "Centre des finances publiques". My invoice has been edited with VAT and my first try to get the tax certificate, according to this european regulation http://ec.europa.eu/taxation_customs/re ... com_en.pdf, was a fail.
I'll try again this monday, I'll pay again the VAT for my scooter (paid two times so) hoping a VAT refund from the german seller after that.
But when I read John's message, I'm afraid to do that for nothing if the next administration (préfecture) refuses to register the scooter due to the manufacturer...
Your mach1 is an homologuated scooter, right ? So how can the administration refuse with the right EC certificate ? It's a shame, we cannot drive in a legal way without registration.
I had a disccussion with a police officer on other forum and he said me that :
- No registration certificate = a fine of 135Eur, no licenseplate = again a fine of 135Eur (= 270Eur)
- No specific insurance ("responsabilité civile" is not enough, > 25km/h) = a fine until 3750Eur, confiscation of the vehicle, and a judgment because this is a a crime
So I have taken out a specific insurance and I received a green card (insurance card for vehicle in France) to be more serene on the road (about 85Eur/year)..
It's fine if the police never asked you but once time you can meet a police officier in a bad day who will take action against you unfortunately...
